Kirkley – a tourist magnet In 2003 the Waveney area received almost 4 million visitors who boosted the regional economy by £149 million. The town’s annual two-day air festival has in the past attracted a quarter of a million people into this thriving part of South Lowestoft. Either side of the Claremont Pier are its two outstanding beaches, South Beach and Victoria Beach, where high levels of cleanliness and safety have earned the prestigious EnCams Blue Flag and seaside awards.
