A key initiative in reducing disruption to Lowestoft during
the construction phases of the scheme will be Works Scheduling
Agreements with Statutory Undertakers. The Anglian Water Authority
in particular have major plans for replacement and repairs
to sewers in the London Road South and Station Square area.
A meeting with the Statutory Undertakers is being arranged
to reinforce working relationships and where possible synchronise
scheduling of proposed works.
The construction necessary to carry out the projects will
cause traffic flow disruptions. WDC and SCC will jointly plan
measures to help reduce the disruption. However, considering
the size and time frame for the scheme it is inevitable that
complaints will be received therefore complaint-handling resources
will be put in place.
The disruptive effects of construction have been considered
as part of this Delivery Plan when deciding upon the phasing
of projects. Despite all efforts other pressures may necessitate
periods of disruption greater than that desired. These periods
will be publicised well in advance so that those likely to
be affected can make arrangements to reduce the impact.
